Bishop Robert Vincent Butler II, born to Bishop Robert, Sr and Alberta on May 30, 1974, in the vibrant Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, NY, has been a beacon of faith and leadership from a young age. Initiated into his spiritual journey at Mount Calvary Fire Baptized Holiness Church under the stewardship of Dr. Jeremiah Fennell, he embraced his call to ministry at the tender age of 16. This early calling in February 1991 was marked by a divine vision, setting him on a dedicated path of service for over three decades.
During his youth, Bishop Butler was not only a vibrant voice in the Junior Celestial Choir Greater Free Gift Baptist but also demonstrated his musical prowess on the drums. This early engagement in church music laid a foundation for his future contributions to gospel music. His talents flourished as he penned songs for esteemed gospel artists, such as “Holy is Christ” for The New York Hurricane Relief Choir, and “Dance with Me” by Geneatha Wright, among others. In addition to his musical accomplishments, Bishop Butler has been a guiding light in education, serving as a professor at Dominion Theological Seminary, where he imparts his knowledge to students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Theology program. His passion for teaching is also evident in his dedication to Sunday school and Bible study for various age groups.
Bishop Butler’s leadership extended beyond music and education. He founded Victorious International Church in Atlanta, GA, and later Glory Tabernacle, now known as Glory Church, in Brooklyn, NY. His role in developing young preachers and supporting youth ministries through the Young Preachers Association underscores his commitment to nurturing future generations. Under the mentorship of spiritual luminaries like Dr. Jeremiah Fennell and Bishop Eric R. Figueroa, Sr., he has excelled in his ministry.
On November 16, 2019, Bishop Butler was consecrated as Bishop, marking a significant milestone in his spiritual journey. Following his consecration, he has served as Bishop of Administrative Affairs, leading the administrative staff at New Life Covenant Fellowship with diligence and foresight. This role involves overseeing the planning and execution of significant events like the Annual Holy Convocation and the Annual Empowerment Conference, further highlighting his administrative capabilities and commitment to the church’s mission.
Residing in Brooklyn, NY, with his wife, Lady Artell Butler, and their children Kyle, Jeremiah, and Kayla, Bishop Butler is a proud family man. His personal motto encapsulates his life’s mission: “If I have but one life to live, let me live it as a Gospel Preacher; forward deployed, conquering the world for our Master.” This motto reflects Bishop Butler’s unwavering commitment to his calling and his impact as a dynamic teacher and preacher, truly sent by God to deliver “The Word.”
